Audio Technica ATH-M50x is an updated version of the original ATH-M50, released in early 2000s.
The M50x model was released in 2014 and with it came with a necessary revisions and improvements. For example the original M50 came with a 3 meter cable that was not detachable.
Also the M50 was rather uncomfortable with too much clamping force, so the M50x comes with a less pressure and better comfort.
The Audio Technica ATH-M50x comes with a nice big box that opens to reveal the headphones wrapped in plastic.

They are closed back designed, that provides passive Noise-Isolation to help to keep the noise out. The ear cups can rotate for 90 degree and they are collapsible between the headband for more portability.
So the M50x are one of the better looking headphones on the market. The build quality on the M50x is a strength of this headphones.
They have a metal headband that flexes easily, which is a weak thing for other headphones. The comfort also is upgraded from the original M50.

At the new model, Audio Technica eliminated the most of the issues with the M50x mode. The clamping force is much more relaxed and the ear cups now come with an improved padding, which really increased the comfort level.
So, these are one of the best comfortable headphones on the market, which is a huge improvement from the old M50.
