When trying to decide what type of battery you should get for your camera you want to consider a few things.
First, examine your digital camera without batteries. Check to see what type of battery that is originally came with.
If you use this type of battery consistently, decide if you like it or need a change of pace.
If you have disposable batteries and feel that you do not want to continue spending money on them, you will want to consider getting a battery that you can just charge.
Or, if you have lost the charger or are not interested in having to worry about charging your camera, you can go with disposable batteries that are much cheaper but need to be bought more often.

When buying disposable batteries, you may want to buy them in bulk as the price will be cheaper in the long run and you will eventually end up using them.
However if you are looking for a rechargeable battery there are a few routes you can take. First, you can purchase one with the camera to begin with, which you know will work however you will spend more money on.
You could look online to find one, or you can go to a general store.
Online and general stores will most likely be cheaper to buy, however you will not know if they are of the best quality until after trying them out.
